Kia Ora my name is Tane Singh–Lagah. Im 42, and reside in Rotorua with my wife and children. I am a multi-media artist and trained in Whakairo Rakau (Maori Woodcarving). I was born in Whakatane and raised in Australia from 5 years of age. In 2000 my wife and I came back home for a holiday, and on seeing the Māori art here we decided to return to NZ so I could learn the art of Whakairo Rakau.
I was honoured to receive a 3 year scholarship at the New Zealand Māori Arts & Crafts Institute in Te Puia. I graduated in 2006 and then began to learn the art of Moko. I have since branched out into Pounamu, Bone, Stone sculpture, chainsaw carving, painting, design and airbrush.
I have always been artistic since childhood, both my parents and their
parents are also artistic. I enjoy the challenge of working in and exploring new mediums and love all traditional indigenous art. I hope you enjoy looking through all the wonderful art being created by all our artists on this website, and I look forward to working with and meeting you.
